Requirements: Please prepare a short comedic Monologue no more than 2 minutes. You may be asked to do a cold reading from the play. Please read the play. A copy of the play will be on hold at the 5th floor Arts Desk, Toronto Reference Library.

Auditions and Rehearsals will be held at 780 Birchmount, Unit 5 (west side of Birchmount, south of Eglinton)
Rehearsals will generally be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 7:30-10:30 p.m. and Sundays, 1-5 p.m
Some dates and times can be flexible as needed.Please note that we will need some rehearsals throughout the Holiday Season. We move the show into the theatre on December 16, 2012 for the January 10, 2013 opening.
Some rehearsals and all performances are at Scarborough Village Theatre, 3600 Kingston Road (at Markham Road).
Synopsis: It’s 1965. The Beatles top the Charts, L.B.J is in the White House, and Oscar Madison, (New York Sportswriter and Inveterate Slob) invites his best friend, the soon to be divorced Felix Unger, (Nightly News writer and Obsessive Compulsive Neat Freak) to share his 8 room apartment. The place isn’t big enough for the 2 of them. Neil Simon’s Classic Comedy of Opposites detracting returns this January, complete with the Poker Players (Speed, Roy, Vinnie and Murray the Cop) and the (Coo-Coo) Pigeon Sisters.

Ages listed are a guide for how the character should appear onstage, not necessarily the age of the actor. Relationship and chemistry between actors will be important.
Characters / Personnage
1. Oscar Madison - Lead - 35 to 45 - Male / Masculin - Any

Oscar Madison- Late 30’s – mid 40’s Successful Sports Writer for a New York Daily with an acerbic wit and a jaundiced life view. He is also an unrepentant slob and it led to his divorce. He is a basically a decent guy and a loyal friend, but his apartment is an early stage hoard.
2. Felix Unger - Lead - 5 to 45 - Male / Masculin - Any

Felix Unger- Late 30’s- mid 40’s Television Writer and an Anal Retentive Neat Freak /Germaphobe, Felix has been evicted from his own little world by his wife and, while he’s self aware of his problems, he seems unwilling or unable to do anything about them.
3. Speed - Supporting - 30s to 40s - Male / Masculin - Any

Speed- 30’s – 40’s A Gambler of no fixed employment, Speed exists for the game. Any game. Cynical and detached, Speed doesn’t care and he’s okay with that.
4. Roy - Supporting - 30s to 40s - Male / Masculin - Any

Roy- 30’s -40’s Oscar’s accountant and friend, even though he disapproves of his lifestyle. Roy doesn’t adapt well to change.
5. Muray - Supporting - 30s to 40s - Male / Masculin - Any

Murray- 30’s -40’s A Sensitive New York Cop, Murray is married and the poker game is his escape from crime and matrimony.
6. Vinnie - Supporting - 30s to 40s - Male / Masculin - Any

Vinnie- 30’s -40’s Vinnie is married. Vinnie goes everywhere with his wife except the poker game. Vinnie is cheap and doesn’t drive. Vinnie usually wins.
7. The Pigeon Sisters - Supporting - 20s to 30s - Female / Féminin - Any

The Pigeon Sisters (Gwendolyn and Cecily) 20’s-30’s Giggly, Sexy, Cockney Sisters (Think LuLu in “To Sir With Love”) who work at a fitness club. Oscar and Felix’s hot dates for a memorable dinner.
